JUNGLE REST & COMFORT IN IGUAZÚ

Calm and relaxation in the middle of the rainforest, to fully enjoy the visit to the Iguazú Falls.

La Cantera Jungle Lodge by DON is located In the middle of the Iryapú jungle, in full contact with nature.

Upon check-in, the staff already educates guests about the care and respect for nature. Our passage through the rainforest may be temporary, but the ecosystem should remain intact.

For this reason the complex was carefully constructed while preserving the environment; considering in its 3 hectares the permanence of 400 year old trees and other species in danger of extinction. In this way, the architectural project included certain innovative contributions, such as the construction of balconies around trees – to avoid cutting them down – and the reduction of the impact on natural resources.

Perhaps it´s this immersion in nature that in itself predisposes us to tranquility and to disconnect completely; although the environment of La Cantera definitely helps. From the entrance you can see everything connected by wooden walkways that lead to the different rooms and common spaces – such as the swimming pool with solarium or the relax area. All with a lush green and humid vegetation as constant background that allows you to breathe the purest air.

The property has five room categories; modern, sober and very luminous. All are equipped with LCD TV, balcony or deck overlooking the jungle, comfortable beds, air conditioning and minibar.

The in-house restaurant has been recently remodeled. So recently, there are no photos yet! Even so, “El Boyero” promises unique aromas, colors, textures and flavors. Here, a gourmet breakfast is served every morning, and then, in the afternoon you can taste sweet pastries specialties. In the evening, an exclusive menu of drinks and signature dishes, ideal for recovering energy after venturing into the jungle or having visited the Falls.

In addition to the best personalized service, with a warm and friendly staff, La Cantera includes three activities with its rate. On the one hand, an interpretive guided walk to explore the rainforest, learn about the region’s characteristics and its environment, and learn about the flora, fauna and culture of the place.

On the other hand, a walk to a village inhabited by Guarani people, joined by a native guide. You will learn about the Guaraní culture, its routines and uses of medicinal plants, hunting customs and even walking along paths that they themselves have traced.

The third activity is a jungle bike ride, joined also by a guide that will lead the way crossing the lush vegetation of this particular environment.

All the activities are easy, suitable for the whole family, between one and one and a half hours long and can be done in the morning or in the afternoon.

For Iguazú visitors, there is no better option than staying in a natural environment, without disregarding the comfort and hospitality that La Cantera Jungle Lodge offers daily.

ECO-SUSTAINABLE HOTEL IN IGUAZÚ

We bring you a fully eco-sustainable hotel in, surrounded by a private nature reserve on the shore of Laguna de los Pájaros in communion with the Biocentro Iguazú Theme Park.

Pueblito Iguazú Theme Hotel was born from the dream of its creator and its subsequent desire as a nature student and lover to bring it to life. Its design recreates some cultural historical monuments of Puerto Iguazú, created by the architect Alejandro Bustillo, such as the chapel, the Iguazú National Park and the school, among others.

The theme decoration was made by local artisans and plastic artists, highlighting the flora and fauna of the ecosystem in which the hotel is based on works of stained glass, stone and paintings.

El Pueblito not only deserves to be visited because of its magical natural and biodiverse environment, or by its cozy and comfortable rooms. What makes it even more special is its sustainability policy, planned and updated every year. It contains programs, objectives and actions to follow according to the mission, vision and values that identify and characterize the hotel.

Its development is based on innovative and sustainable practices, which seek to influence different actors in the sector and society where it acts, to generate value in all its stakeholders.

Understanding that economic development must be in harmony with welfare and social inclusion, and with the valorization, conservation and defense of the environment and the natural, historical and cultural heritage of the region where the activity takes place, El Pueblito has reinforced its commitment to sustainability with these actions:

  • Establishing a sustainable management of the processes, based on a balance between the business, sociocultural and environmental dimensions.
  • Promoting the integral development of the original communities of Puerto Iguazú taking concrete actions so that they also participate in the benefits of tourism. For example, its Panambi restaurant offers regional gourmet dishes made with ingredients from local producers, with simple and very tasty recipes from missionary immigrant colonies.

  • Supporting and respecting the protection of human rights within their sphere of influence. In this way they protect their employees and the entire local community with their Protocol of Prevention of Social Harm Behaviors, and during 2018 they protected young girls, boys and teenagers with their Protocol for the Prevention of Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents.
  • Sponsoring actions and projects for the promotion of sustainability and human development. They invite their guests to join the sustainable actions in compliance with the Responsible Tourist Code promoted by the World Tourism Organization.
  • They heat the water of their facilities only with renewable energy from solar panels and wood pellets from the residues of exotic species from the forest industry of the province of Misiones.

As you can see, El Pueblito remains busy and active in its commitment to sustainable development. For nature lovers and supporters of sustainability, this is the perfect place to rest.

A HIDDEN TREASURE IN IGUAZÚ

In Misiones Province, you can find the ideal place for nature lovers, birdwatchers, photographers and anyone willing to isolate themselves from everyday life: La Lorenza.

Emilio and Picu, a couple passionate about nature, share their private reserve with those who are willing to discover a different Iguazú. They define it as a secret spot beyond the famous waterfalls and off the beaten track.

La Lorenza is 50 minutes away from the city of Iguazú, immersed in a forest rich in biodiversity, medicinal plants, orchids, bromeliads, butterflies, and birds, many of them endemic to the ecoregion. Located on the Paraná River, the reservation is also a rural area where local families live and work the land.

It is possible to discover La Lorenza, through Half Day or Full Day discoveries which include a close encounter with nature within the reserve. We would like to recommend two of them.

LA LORENZA WALK & KAYAK, starts with a 30 min walk through the forest that will take you to the Urugua-i river bank where the kayaks will be waiting. Its calm waters are easy to paddle, an  invitation to observe the forest in a different perspective and to perceive with all your senses the surrounding nature.

You will have the chance to watch the second largest river in South America go by: the Paraná river. After 2.5 miles of kayaking, you will be back on land. A 45 minutes guided walk through the forest, immersed and surrounded by local flora and fauna to observe and learn, will take you to a deck overlooking the river with a privileged view. The visit ends at this unique place with a local appetizer. Although this activity i s suitable for beginners, it is required to be able to swim.

The other recommendation is LA LORENZA BY WATER. Upon arrival at La Lorenza a motor boat will be waiting for you to navigate up the Paraná River. After 15 minutes you will reach the Yasy cascade, a local hidden gem. In the intimacy of this breathtaking natural landscape, you can go for a swim and maybe even allow the waterfall to give you a massage. On the way back, you can enjoy a brief float down the Paraná River as we enjoy its calm waters. With a view of Paraguay on our private deck, by the bank of the Paraná River, a local appetizer will be offered. This is a good time to share endless local stories and curiosities.

A swim in the river or bathing under the Yasy cascade is possible and enjoyable as there are no aggressive animals in its waters.

If you would like to take part on any of these options at La Lorenza or learn more about other possible discoveries in this unique location, please contact us for more information.

Comfort & Relax in the Rainforest

Travelling is all about experiences, and when accommodation services meet or go beyond our expectations, the journey’s memories enrich. Such was the case with the Yvy Jungle Hotel, where our stay was very enjoyable. That’s why we want to share it’s story with you.

The Yvy Jungle Hotel is located in a beautiful and natural environment in the region of the Iguazu Falls: the Iryapú Jungle Reserve, an outstanding natural site that comprises 3 acres of lush greenery. An ideal place for nature lovers, since it is shared with many Guarani villages and countless species of native flora and fauna, like the Caraguatá, the Pink Lapacho and the Harpy Eagle among others. The route to the Hotel is a highlight itself.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by a friendly staff member who took us to our rooms on a small cart. In the room we were surprised with a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine and some petit fours, which we thought was a nice gesture included with all Deluxe Room Reservations. Standard Rooms come with complimentary bottles of water and petit fours.

A close encounter with nature, 24 nicely decorated beautiful rooms and the comfort of privacy get together to create a wonderful experience. We liked the bungalow style rooms in the jungle setting and it only took an easy walk getting to the main area of the hotel for meals. The rooms are very spacious and the jungle views through the windows are great. The bathrooms are small but adequate. The rooms have air-conditioning, a safety box, a TV and free Wifi.

This hotel is a couple of kilometres away from the downtown area, that’s why both nights we had dinner at the hotel’s restaurant. The on-site Mua Restaurant offers regional and international delicious dishes and we were able taste some of the best national and international wines at the Itakua Cava. The restaurant’s service was very good and the waiters were very helpful.

Yvy Hotel de Selva also features an outdoor swimming pool, which is a bonus for guests when they come back from excursions. It was awesome to dive in the water and watch Mother Nature all around us.

Event facilities are available and there is a 24-hour front desk assistance. The hotel is located only a 10-minute walk from the city centre and 3,6 km from the bus station. Puerto Iguazú airport is 20 km away and Iguazu National Park is at 17.9 km.

If you like walking, you should go to the City Centre and visit the Three Borders Boundary Post, which is one of the few places in the world where you can watch three countries at the same time.

We invite you to ask your Kallpa Account Executive about this and other experiences in accommodation to enlighten your traveler’s experience.
