Food is ready and everything laid on the table. The cook is getting the coal ready to start the fire. The beef is ready to get “its intense tan”.

Everything is ready to begin with the “having dinner at an argentinian family´s home” experience. It´s time to share what we call “the table” and have a close encounter with warmth and affection which are important ingredients in our society. We´ll tempt you with tasty “empanadas” and we´ll teach you how to cook them while having fun in the process, drink a glass of good wine and chat with the cook while he is getting everything ready for the big barbecue and the best beef in the world. For those vegie-lovers we´ll also cook some vegetables on the grill. All this in the middle of fun and relaxed ambience.

Another good choice is to enjoy of a”true Argentinian grill” where we´ll try our “picadas”(different cold cuts, olives, dry sausage and cheese) a good wine and share in the experience of preparing and cooking a delicious “asado”.

As soon as we are welcomed into the house they´ll offer us a tray with different cheeses and cold cuts on it(our picada).

Then the salads will start coming plus the sweetmeats and the insides that locals like so much. All that to work up and appetite. Then we´ll have the big “bife de chorizo”(350grs) a very tender cut that reap up all the applauses.

Every different dish comes along with different kinds of wines specially chosen for the meal.

That´s why to be a part in the process of cooking an asado is a “must” for every visitor who wants to learn about our secrets and traditions.

Tango World Cup

As good Argentinians, we love the tango. Therefore, we want to share this passion with you, our colleagues, because of that we have created a special program dedicated to the Buenos Aires Tango Festival (Tango World Cup).

Tango is from Argentina and lives in Buenos Aires. Each year Buenos Aires receives thousands of people, who are passionate, curious and willing to meet the tango, either watching the show or giving the first tango steps following these tunes from the poor neighborhoods. From 2003 Buenos Aires is Buenos Aires Tango Festival venue where creators and performers star in concerts, dancing shows and contests; and where the best world performers participate.

In 2015 the Tango Festival will be conducted from August 12th to 25th at the “Teatro de la Ribera” [Riverbank Theatre] which from 2010 became the house of the tango in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, at the neighborhood of “La Boca” [the mouth].

At the festival two styles are performed: tango scenario and tango salon (ballroom). Tango salon is characterized by the popular tango style where the close embrace cannot be broken or dancers cannot jump. On the other hand, tango scenario is characterized by the free and acrobatic choreographic style, which includes movements not allowed in the salon tango, as jumps and losing the embrace.

In 2014, a new venue was incorporated to the Festival: “El Galpón de La Boca”. A big ongoing dancing room, with live music, DJ sets, dancing exhibitions and classes was run at that place: “La Milonga del Puerto” [the milonga of the port area].

tango-world-cup-3

In addition to the above-mentioned Festival, and for those travelers who would like to experience this event from close we have organized a 4-day itinerary which includes: the events organized by the Tango Festival and World Cup according to each passenger’s interest, such as seminars, conferences, contests, milongas, films. The guided walk will finish at a restaurant, where we’ll share a
glimpse of argentine cuisine at your choice.

We invite you to find out about this proposal with the executive staff of Kallpa.

Once again, you can participate of the largest annual tango meeting that celebrates the tradition, promotes the innovation and contributes to the generational and interdisciplinary encounter. This meeting gathers emerging artists, tango historical referents and a multitude of tango lovers and dancing amateurs. Kallpa wants you to become part of it.

Trail of the pioneers safari Iguazu

The peculiar sound produced by the giant Tiger ant when it gets angry. Hamadrya butterfly curious camouflage disguises it on the tree bark. The characteristic smell that a herd of peccaries to mark its territory. The softness layer of thick gross on the tree trunk. These are some of the experiences in this adventure trip along the Trail of the Pioneers Safari Iguazu.

We ride towards the waterfalls through the jungle in a 4 x4 vehicle. Differently to other excursions, this one has a special and theme characteristic, where you enter the Argentine Waterfalls Area by an ancient dirt road (today closed to the access of private vehicles). This trip recreates the experiences that the first visitors had been through at that time, when there was no paved road but only the one “carved” on the hill.

It is interesting to know that until 1974, that road connecting the Iguazú Port to the waterfalls was a dirt road. In spite of this, tourists from all over the world walked along this trail to delight themselves with the new Wonder of the World, the Iguazú Falls.

This trail is closed to private vehicles due to safety reasons. Therefore we had the possibility of travelling through it all in absolute solitude. The old “Forest Rangers Station” is still present among the lianas, surrounded by citrus and banana trees. This station is a mute witness of a past surely filled with adventures that the forest is trying to throw a blanket of silence on. Right there our 4×4 truck stops and walking starts.

A few steps ahead we see a wild old “Yerba Mate” tree where the Tiger ant amazes us with its colossal size. Afterwards, some miles ahead we will recognize, due to its color contrast with the characteristic red soil of the region, the “Ñahú”, a clay used by the native guaraní tribe to model jars. The tree ferns accompany us all along the journey with exuberant leaves that continue vigorous in spite of their own age.

In our journey we come closer to our final destination. An old sign hidden in the jungle of plants indicates the proximity of the Iguazú Falls, transporting us to the past in our mind, imagining the natural beauty of this destination before the man.

This is a different way of visiting the Iguazú Falls, away from crowds, in the intimacy of the jungle and the nature. When entering the Iguazú National Park, you can combine this tour with the regular excursion to the argentinian side of the falls.
