Patagonia Eco Domes

El Chaltén is one of the destinations that watched us grow and became a sort of a cornerstone to our Travellers´culture. Those of us, who had the possibility of marvelling at its landscapes, know that along the way there are lodgings for every need and taste, that range from the most basic to the most sophisticated. Adding good experiences and new things we gave this place to: Patagonia Eco Domes.

patagonia-eco-domes-5Patagonia Eco Domes is located 16kms from El Chalten on route 23 to Lago del Desierto, surrounded by Nature and Mountains. This Eco Glamping is in a beautiful 3 hectares garden whose main attraction are the panoramic views to Cerro Fitz Roy.

patagonia-eco-domes-3It has 7 domes en-suite for 2 people with a private hallway and a “salamandra”(wood-burning stove), all of them with a view to Cerro Fitz Roy, 1 restaurant dome, 1 reception area dome + a living -room and a “Wellness Dome” where our Kallpa girls enjoyed a massage session and yoga lessons at an extra cost since they are not included in the rate. The domes have an alpine and geodesic style. All the domes have a stove to keep the rooms warm which beckons to us every time we come back from any activity in Chaltén . They also have a living-room and a private bathroom with Scottish shower.

patagonia-eco-domesEvery morning we start our day enjoying a gourmet breakfast before starting on our walks. From Patagonia Eco Domes we have free access to a private trail that takes us to Laguna de los Tres. One of the most attractive trails due to the views it offers. You can also reach Piedras Blancas Glacier and others.

patagonia-eco-domes-2Patagonia Eco Domes has a bar and a restaurant with a varied cuisine and a good list of wines. They also have a garden and a solarium. They have no cellphone reception or internet at the premises. The idea is to break away from everyday life and enjoy El Chaltén. One of its most important aspects is the sustainability of electric energy which is provided by solar screens with an independent circuit per dome with a 12 volts power supply.
patagonia-eco-domes-4
We highly recommend the Patagonia Eco Domes as a travel sales offer. It´s new and original and it´s different to other lodgings as well as being the only Glamping Camp in this area.

Important factors to take into account:

Mínimum of pax required: 1

Every dome has a 12 volts independent energy. They have no 220 volts wall sockets. In every dome you´ll find USB plugs to recharge your devices. Should you need a 220 volts recharge you can ask for it at the front desk. Community Domes have solar energy and a 220 volts circuit.

They also have free shuttle services to and from El Chaltén at: 9:30hs and 13hs for Check Out time and at: 12hs and 17hs for Check In time.

The restaurant is available for the guests. If they have any special diets they must inform it in advance.

Patagonia Eco Domes is located in a faraway area. There is no public transport and they do not take Credit Cards, that´s why we recommend to bring enough cash when checking in.

Having lunch at the sommelier’s house

Originally this tour is known as: “EATING WITH THE ENEMY”, and although the name it’s a little unorthodox, there´s a very interesting story in it. Having lunch at the sommelier’s house is a new highlight in Mendoza.

lunch-at-the-somelier-house-2

The thing is that Alejandro Vigil is a wine expert at Catena Zapata Winery, one of the most prestigious wineries in Argentina, and he indulged himself by introducing his own wine:”El Enemigo” made together with Laura, youngest daughter of Ernesto Catena. From its very first impression the name speaks for itself and plays opposite to the other wineries that want to link wine to friendship. However, “El Enemigo” the name given to this wine, has conquered the market due to its antagonism.

lunch-at-the-somelier-house-1Maybe that’s not the picture we have in mind about what happens behind closed doors at Catena Zapata Winery, but that’s the way Alejandro Vigil is and he understands his work that way because he puts the same passion into the grapevines and into the bottles and now into his own restaurant “Casa del Enemigo”(House of the Enemy), where his guests can savour an exquisite local cuisine and its “emblem wine”.

He talks about “making extreme wines”, about the quality of the vines and about the people who work in the vineyards. In Kallpa we share the same passion about trips and wine and we bring it to our guests while searching for innovation in our programmes.

lunch-at-the-somelier-house-3It´s an interesting offer. They come and pick us up at the hotel to take us to Alejandro Vigil´s family refuge known as “Casa del Enemigo” to delight us with an exquisite “asado”(barbecue) with gourmet salads and grilled vegetables. We’ll also meet Alejandro and his wife Maria who’ll invite us into his family home to share with us some anecdotes, stories and all their passion for wine as well as treat us with internationally prized wines.

Tell your guests to come and we’ll all live together “the wine” in a different way full of colourful hues and experiences from the hands of one of the best wine experts in the world.

Yungas Circuit on Mountain Bike

The two wheels are a passion that let us ride through fascinating places, be in touch with nature and feel the adrenaline. Whether it’s a smooth road or not, this is an experience just known to those who live it, and this is what Yungas Circuit on Mountain Bike is all about.

Right in the middle of a jungle that surrounds the town of San Lorenzo is where we´ll find the trails along which we´ll ride through our experience. San Lorenzo is a town close to the city of Salta towards the western side of the Andes Mountain Range, that´s why is called “Precordillera” or Oriental Mountain Range. One of the most complete biomasses in Northwest Argentina, also known as “yungas” or mountain forest can be found in this area.

We are now on a short car-trip towards Western Valle de Lerma. At our starting point we find ourselves getting the bicycles ready and fully equipped with helmets, water etc and attending a safety measures briefing about our circuit. .

This is a very interesting excursion which is ready for any level of experience or physical condition. The circuits range from AVERAGE to HARD and the guests can choose the circuits according to their level of experience. The biking takes about half a day approximately. The circuits are biked in 4 hours and you can take the morning tour starting at 10AM or the afternoon tour at 3PM.

We start pedalling along rural trails entering ravines full of a lush vegetation and waterways. This activity is very active and fun . What we do is biking across rivers and natural obstacles and feel the real essence of mountain-bike riding without being professional riders. During the trip we enjoy streams as well as watching the local flora and fauna. We are all the time assisted by expert and bilingual tour guides who will tell us about the most interesting aspects of mother nature.

The Yungas and Mountain Bike Circuit is an excellent choice to get to know the different aspects of Northwestern Argentina, to enjoy nature and to share with other travellers a unique experience.
We are waiting for you.
