This is a history that has been written since 1924 by descendants of the same family and that is depicted on each corner of Puerto Bemberg Inn located in the middle of 400 hectares of pure nature in the jungle of Misiones with trails and hidden corners we visited. A paradise immersed in the Misionera jungle.

Otto and Federico Bemberg settled in Misiones and founded the first Yerba Mate growing company with a production at a large scale. Its progress allowed them buy lots of lands in the area and that is why they set up Puerto Bemberg [port].

There are two aspects important to highlight of Puerto Bemberg, first its commitment with nature conservation that can be felt at each aspect of the service, what made them obtain the verification of Rain Forest Alliance on sustainable tourism. The other point to highlight is the beauty of the inn in the middle of this natural paradise where it has been built.

immerse-in-the-misionera-jungle-3Relaxed by the wooden fireplace, with a library of more than 2,500 books we find a place to rest and forget about the dynamism of urban life for some days. During the day we may enjoy the open air swimming pool, laying on wood deck chairs in the middle of trees and some have taken the massage service to feel renewed.

The hotel breakfast is a Continental Buffet which includes regional jams, regional and native products of the area and other delicacies. This breakfast is very complete so as to provide the energy for the activities that may be performed in the area. Gourmet cuisine is something that must not be missed its menu includes meals whose ingredients come from products grown in the hotel’s own garden. If you enjoy trying the flavors of different regions you cannot resist trying an ice cream of ‘yerba mate’.

The rooms are decorated in a rustic style, with an air conditioner, flat screen cable TV, dark-color wood furniture and parquet flooring. Blankets and bedspreads are made of natural knitting and show earth-like and olive green color tones. The rooms offer details of rustic interior design. These have got free wi-fi and a private balcony with a view to the garden.

At the inn, you may do different activities such as sailing the Río Iguazú, cycling, trekking in the jungle or watching of the fauna and flora of the area, visiting of natural falls among others. The ruins in San Ignacio are at a 250-km distance of Puerto Bemberg so it used to be one of the most visited attractions in the area after the falls.

Puerto Bemberg Inn offers the perfect combination of history and comfort therefore it is an option that you cannot leave aside if you travel to Iguazú. Tierra Atacama is built respecting the ancient bull corral, place where mule drivers, who took game from Argentina to Puerto de Antofagasta, stopped to feed and to make their animals rest after a hard journey through the Andes. There they would be supplied with fodder and water before continuing their trip. Tierra Atacama’s architects have decided to keep these ancient adobe walls and to incorporate them to the access to the hotel and to keep them as homage to the history of the area.

The philosophy of the hotel chosen is the adventure and spa. Our travelers want to discover the beauty of a destination in an active way and with an adventurous spirit, with the security of later being received at the hotel with a variety of options for relaxing and renewing energies for the next adventure.

Sustainable tourism projects at Puerto Valle

In Kallpa we are always supporting programs that help and contribute with the education and protection of the environment and this time we tell you about the sustainable tourism projects at Puerto Valle.

Message in a Bottle

In recent years, environmental awareness has led to great changes in consumer habits , and consequently the recycling of waste to minimize the impact on the environment.

When you think ” green ” bottles have known to be carriers of creative messages . They have already been used as bricks for green building ( earthship ) or for mounting on them and cross oceans : the case of David Rothschild who crossed the Pacific Ocean on a catamaran of 18 meters long constructed from plastic recycled bottles.

With so much creativity on the table, Marisol and Nicholas Di Costanzo Sciorto , were determined to put their two cents worth in. Since 2010 they manage Puerto Valle, a small boutique hotel , where they arrived to put their mark and focus on the little details, because that is what counts. The hotel is strategically located just 55 km from Posadas airport . Looking to the Paraná River and with a privileged access to Northeast Ibera Natural Reserve, the hotel aims to identify this unique ecosystem through the Laguna Valley .

“We took the example of David Rothschild, who focused on the buoyancy of the bottles. We needed a platform to observe animals, and began to fantasize about a floating structure held up by plastic bottles,” explains Nicholas. So the hotel implemented a recycling program that allowed to reduce significantly the volume of trash and accumulate the valuable bottles. After two years of hard work, Puerto Valle had enough material to make the structure a reality.

Today all guests visiting the Laguna Valley can enjoy the unforgettable “floating” between capybaras , caimans and birds , knowing that the bottles of water consumed during the visit to this vast ecosystem, hide a message that only requires imagination and wit to be revealed.

Sustainable farm for raising alligators. Yacaré Porá

Another of the sustainable projects is Yacaré Porá. Located in Puerto Valle property in the northeastern province of Corrientes Yacaré Porá is a sustainable farm for raising alligators.

In order to protect the broad-snouted caiman and black caiman, local endangered species, the project also seeks economic and sociocultural valuation of wetlands where alligators live with other species.

Through a program of conservation and sustainable use, Yacaré Porá can generate valuable resources and time necessary for the integrated conservation of correntinos wetlands.

The harvest of wild eggs ranching and enhancement of ecosystems made in this sustainable development allows maximum production with minimum environmental impact. The project also contributes to the recovery of populations in areas where the species has been eliminated or reduced, and the socio-economic development of the region.

Bristol Hotel Buenos Aires

This month we decided to revisit Bristol Hotel Buenos Aires. A great option in Downtown near to very interesting places of the city. We share our experience!

Bristol Hotel Buenos Aires

When you enter Bristol Hotel Buenos Aires you have no longer the feeling you are in Buenos Aires Downtown. Even when the hotel is in front of 9 de Julio Avenue, noise is not heard. The staff at the reception is very warm and polite. Well provided with information and suggestions for the passengers. One of the things that i’ve noticed talking with Haydee, manager of the hotel, is that they take good care of the personal relation to provide a customer care focused on exceeding expectations.

The Hotel Bristol offers a great location on the 9 de Julio Avenue, across from the Obelisk. You can walk out and watch the widest Avenue in South America, July 9th. and standing in the center you will see the obelisk. You are three blocks away from Florida Street and also from Colon Theater, two emblematic points of interest in Buenos Aires. Also 6 blocks away from plaza de Mayo and the Pink House. Bristol is also 10 blocks from Puerto Madero, a typical touristic spot and stylish restaurant area, and just one block away from Corrientes Avenue, a major theater and entertainment venue. Is 200 metres from 9 de Julio subway station and 6 km from Jorge Newbery Airport. Visits to the local points of interest can be arranged through the tour desk.

“Hard to find a better location in Central Buenos Aires. Very good value, and extremely helpful staff.” Says Alan Morgan on his review on Trip Avisor.

You can see the obelisk and most of the avenue. This room is requested by professional photographers to capture the essence of Buenos Aires during the day and the night. Amenities include air conditioning, cable TV, and queen or king sized beds.

You can also exercise in the exclusive gym.

Hotel Bristol’s restaurant is situated on the mezzanine floor and serves breakfast buffet with croissants, pastries, regional and international specialties, and snacks. Our CEO Gabriel Barok was impressed with the variety of options included. I also had the opportunity to be there when passengers were having breakfast and i can tell that they were very satisfied. Room service is also available if you would like to stay resting in the room and enjoy the great view.
